India Blog 5 – Hello from the City of Light!

The Performers Without Borders India Team has been living and teaching in Varanasi for almost three weeks now! We are staying in a small guesthouse close to the Ganges River and have about a 15-20 minute walk to the schools we teach at.

Asha Deep is one of the longest standing PWB partner schools and the kids range in age from 7-17. They are extremely talented and very eager to learn more! We teach there Mon-Fri from 3:00-5:30 and have a public community show scheduled with all the kids on March 3rd.
IMG_7886Duniya Education is a very small school and we visit several of their classes throughout the week to teach multiple groups of students. The children we teach Tue, Thur, Fri from 10:30-1:00 are mostly younger and very energetic. We also teach a group of late-teen girls in their beautician class Wednesday afternoons. We are planning a show with them as well before we leave, but it won’t be as choreographed as the Asha Deep show.
